Jerry Baker

Mr. Baker has been an executive search consultant since 1976. Prior to establishing the firm in 2007, he was a partner with Baker-Parker, Inc. for 16 years. Prior to 1991, he spent nine years as a Senior Partner and Member of the Board of Directors of Lamalie Associates. Before that, he was President of MSL International, the executive search division of The Hay Group, Inc., and, earlier, a Vice President with Billington, Fox & Ellis, Inc.

Mr. Baker has conducted approximately 900 searches for a diverse corporate and not-for-profit clientele. He has served corporations in

many industries but has significant experience in consumer packaged goods, the food and beverage industry, consulting, commercial banking and consumer durables. His searches have been for chief executive officers, senior corporate officers, division management, and most functional disciplines. He has conducted 450 searches in the academic and not-for-profit sector, including the positions of president, provost, dean, and vice president of most functional disciplines. Prior to becoming an executive search consultant, he was a member of the human resource staff of two major corporations.

Mr. Baker is as a member of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest University, currently serving on the Executive Committee, the Academic Affairs Committee, and the Compensation Committee. He recently was a member of the Overseers’ Committee to Visit the Divinity School of Harvard University, the Board of Visitors of the Wake Forest University Divinity School, the Council of University Resources at Harvard University, and the Dean’s Council at the Harvard Divinity School. He previously served as a member of the Board of Visitors of Wake Forest University, President of the Wake Forest University Parents’ Council, President of the Harvard Divinity School Alumni Association, a Director of the Harvard University Alumni Association, and member of the Board of Directors and Secretary/Treasurer of the Association of Executive Search Consultants. In 2007, he was recognized as the first recipient of the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award of the Harvard Divinity School.

Mr. Baker’s biography is included in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, and Who’s Who in the South & Southwest.

He earned the B.A. degree from Wake Forest University and the Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University.



Martin M. Baker
Senior Vice President


Mr. Baker has been in the executive search profession for 15 years and is based in our Winston-Salem, NC office. He transitioned his practice to Baker and Associates LLC in 2007 from Baker-Parker, Inc.

He previously worked in the Atlanta office of Korn/Ferry International, where he developed search strategy and executed searches for numerous senior level appointments. Mr. Baker began his career working as a Research Associate with Saxton Bampfylde, an executive search and management assessment firm in London, England.

Mr. Baker has conducted searches for the positions of CEO, CFO, CIO, Provost, Dean, Director, and Professor, having worked on over 300 searches throughout his career. Mr. Baker has represented some of the most distinguished colleges and universities in the country, having conducted numerous professorial and executive level searches spanning most academic disciplines and functions.

Mr. Baker currently serves on the Alumni Council at Wake Forest University, the Board of Directors of SciWorks (The Science Center and Environmental Park of Forsyth County in Winston-Salem), and on the Development Committee for the Childrenís Museum of Winston-Salem. He previously served on the regional selection committee for the Presidential Scholarship at Wake Forest University.

Clint F. Wood, CCM, CCE

Mr. Wood brings over 25 years of club management experience, having worked at some of the most prestigious clubs in South Carolina and North Carolina throughout his career. From 2008-2016, Mr. Wood served as General Manager of Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, NC. Under his leadership, Old Town Club put in plans to construct a freestanding fitness facility, renovate the member grill, expand the pool pavilion, and restore the golf course by famed architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The result of the restoration has propelled Old Town into the top 100 courses in the country as ranked by Golf Magazine. Ranked as the 78th best course in the country, Old Town joins Pinehurst No. 2 and Wade Hampton as the only North Carolina courses to make this prestigious list.

In addition, Mr. Wood hired a new leadership team while at Old Town, including a new golf pro, tennis pro, executive chef, clubhouse manager, and assistant general manager.

Prior to serving as General Manager at Old Town, Mr. Wood served as Assistant General Manager at Myers Park Country Club in Charlotte, NC. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wood served in leadership roles at Country Club of Charleston, Carolina Country Club, and Chapel Hill Country Club. Mr. Wood has been very involved in local and national levels of the CMAA. In 2015, Mr. Wood served as President of the Carolinas Chapter of the CMAA. In 2014, Mr. Wood was recognized for his outstanding leadership and performance by being voted the Club Manager of the Year in the Carolinas. Mr. Wood has served as a mentor to many folks in the industry, and he has a passion for growing young managers and connecting them to the right positions to thrive and be successful. Mr. Wood graduated with a bachelorís degree from North Carolina State University.


Anya Gray

Ms. Gray has been in the executive search profession for 11 years. Prior to joining Baker and Associates LLC, she enjoyed a diverse career, first as an educator and then in managerial administration in the sea charter, asbestos abatement, advertising, and document management industries.

Ms. Gray administers all stages of each search and is in frequent communication with both the client and the candidates. She conducts research, candidate development, and search coordination for a wide variety of senior level academic searches as well as a considerable number of searches in the corporate arena.

Ms. Gray earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
